AS A CREATIVE DIRECTOR AND STYLE BLOGGER, I’VE HAD THE PRIVILEGE TO WORK ALONGSIDE TOP FASHION, BEAUTY AND LIFESTYLE BRANDS AS WELL AS AWARD-WINNING TALENT IN THE FILM AND ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY, OVER THE PAST 20 YEARS.
I’ve worked with a broad spectrum of clients (Nordstrom, Disney, Universal Studios and Target, to name a few) and although my skill set is vast, my greatest expertise revolves in the world of Digital Marketing, Content Creation and Branding. But the best part is...
I love teaching creative entrepreneurs how to build and grow their online business like a boss!
By the age of 10, I was creating and building out business plans for an indoor theme park complete with set design and costumed characters. Crayolas were my go-to and Rainbow Brite was my muse. My childhood consisted of lite brite, tomy fashion plates, bright colors and big dreams.
Being from a small town in the Midwest, I was instilled with strong morals and a deep appreciation for the little things in life. What I didn’t know at the time, was that these core values would be vital later in life, after moving out west and starting a career in the film and television industry.
After studying theatre in high school, I was certain that I wanted to become an actress, but that was only until I discovered set life. Making magic behind the scenes was more appealing and I went from an intern to a crew member in a short amount of time. Fashion was always something I was interested in, so naturally working as a Wardrobe Stylist was fitting. (see what I did there?) Although you would usually find me shopping for a shoot or hustling in the wardrobe trailer, I worked in other departments to become knowledgeable within all aspects of a production.
In 2006, I moved to Denmark and discovered the ah-mazing world of Scandinavian design. I was inspired to share my discoveries with my friends back home and my blog was born. After returning back home to the states, I began partnering with both brands and local businesses to create content, implement social media strategies and consult on advertising campaigns.
I’m a Style Influencer for the AOL Lifestyle Collective and my work has been featured in Vogue, NY Times, CBS News, Teen Vogue, First Magazine, Lucky Magazine and other numerous publications. BreeCooley.com, is an online style destination filled with inspiration, creative business tips and all things beautiful. A happy place where business is my bff, style is a way of life and joy is my motto. As a creative business owner, my motivation is to inspire you to live a happier and bolder life!
WHAT DOES A CREATIVE DIRECTOR ACTUALLY DO? Drinks too much caffeine, swears at inanimate objects, juggles conference calls, forgets to eat lunch and loses the concept of time while brainstorming. But... I also develop, create and implement advertising strategies and marketing campaigns, from concept to completion. Depending on the brand I’m working with, I may sometimes lead a creative team of writers, designers, artists and photographers on set or just work in the office with my own small team on smaller projects.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO BE A CREATIVE ENTREPRENEUR? It won’t be easy, but it will be worth it. Be prepared to work your ass off and then a little more. With every rejection or mistake, should come a lesson. Learn from it or it will keep happening. Don’t expect to succeed overnight. Put in the time, teach yourself as much as you can and be open to constructive criticism. Follow your gut, it’s always right. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF? Strategic, witty, ambitious, multi-tasker with an eye for innovation and creative perfection. I’m a self-proclaimed comedian, with an unhealthy handbag obsession. A happy, dog mom with an addiction to color and romantic comedies. I would say I’m also a chronic giggle-holic, who wears her heart on her sleeve and is determined to get everything she wants out of life. I’ve gone through more hardships in the past 10 years, than most people do in a lifetime, but the key is to keep moving forward and come out on shining on the other side.
WHAT ARE 10 THINGS YOU COULDN'T LIVE WITHOUT? My dog, the internet, glitter, peppermint mochas, laughter, the color pink, passport, a swimming pool, a structured handbag & love.
WHERE ARE YOU BASED? I’m based in Las Vegas, while my work is mostly done remotely, I travel quite frequently to Portland and Los Angeles.
WHAT ARE A FEW HIGHLIGHTS OF YOUR CAREER THUS FAR? Riding Space Mountain with the lights on (one of the perks of working for Disney), swapping dirty jokes on set with John Cusack, hiring my 1st assistant and ironing the scarves on Steven Tyler’s mic stand.
WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME? I don’t usually have much spare time, but when I do you I usually like to catch a movie, go shopping, bake, DIY project, go for a swim, binge-watch netflix shows, take a road trip and search for the perfect mojito or stay at home with Lucy (my furry kid with a smile that will make your heart melt and who also likes to makes the occasional appearance on my instagram).
WHAT ARE SOME THINGS ABOUT YOU MOST PEOPLE WOULDN'T KNOW? I’ve saved three lives, two canine and one human. I know almost every lyric to every song from the 50’s/60’s and I’m a total Beatles fanatic. I’m an advocate in supporting local dog rescues and determined to prove that pitbulls are one of the most loving dog breeds there is. I’m most happy when I’m dancing. I walked away from my career for four years to become the caretaker of my former fiancé, due to a severe accident and it changed my life forever. I redesigned a friends home and it sold for double the price, within 48 hours. On multiple occasions, my mom used to tell my school principal that I had a doctor’s appointment when really she would take me shopping and out to lunch. I totally blame her for my shopaholic behavior.
