BUSINESS IS MY BFF AND STYLE IS A WAY OF LIFE.
Throughout the course of my career, I’ve had the honor to work alongside top brands and award-winning talent in the film and entertainment industry.
As a business owner for the past 22 years, I love to share my knowledge and help other creative entrepreneurs how to build their business like a boss!
At the age 10, I sketched designs for my first business... and was determined to build an indoor theme park. It was complete, with set design and costumed characters. Needless to say, that didn’t quite work out. Crayolas were my go-to and Rainbow Brite was my muse. My childhood consisted of lite brite, craft night, tomy fashion plates and big dreams. In high school, I became very involved in theatre and had already started taking creative writing and business marketing courses, who knew I would be putting my skills to such good use!
Before I turned 18, I had started my career in the film industry... as a wardrobe stylist and my adventure of entrepreneurship began. Within 3 months after my first intern gig on set, I was an official paid member of the crew on a feature film. Maybe it was beginner's luck or perhaps my passion and determination were just that convincing. My clients consisted of both beloved Disney characters and celebrities. Stage or screen, my love for entertainment industry runs deep.
Now (many) years later, I've worked with over 150 brands... creating content and developing brand + marketing strategies. I'm also the co-founder of Realm Media Group, a collective digital + event marketing company, alongside my brother Chris, where we specialize in creating unique brand-driven user experiences and events.
The blog... In 2008, while living abroad in Denmark, I discovered the ah-mazing world Scandinavian design. At the time, I needed a creative outlet and was inspired to share my discoveries to my friends back home, so my beloved blog was born. My blog attracts 165,000+ monthly visitors who are mostly women with a killer sense of style and a thirst for success! My goal is to inspire you to feel happier, be more successful and to live loud.
Give back... I’m also a believer that if you are lucky enough to have a platform, it’s important to use your voice for good. I’m a big fan of giving back and since Lucy (my furry kid) can’t be heard, I choose to use my voice in supporting local dog rescues in her honor.
Shine on... As a bright vessel of love + positivity, I stay transparent in hopes that by sharing my experiences, it might help and inspire someone else.
Most importantly, I... Dream big, Work hard, Stay grounded, Remain grateful, Laugh loud and Love hard.
WHAT DOES A CREATIVE DIRECTOR ACTUALLY DO? Drinks too much caffeine, swears at inanimate objects, juggles conference calls, forgets to eat lunch and loses the concept of time while brainstorming.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE OTHER CREATIVE ENTREPRENEURS? It won’t be easy, but it will be worth it. Be prepared to work your ass off and then a little more. With every rejection or mistake, should come a lesson. Learn from it or it will keep happening. Don’t expect to succeed overnight. Put in the time, teach yourself as much as you can and be open to constructive criticism. Follow your gut, it’s always right.
WHAT ARE A FEW HIGHLIGHTS OF YOUR CAREER THUS FAR? Riding Space Mountain with the lights on (one of the perks of working for Disney), swapping dirty jokes on set with John Cusack, hiring my first assistant and ironing the scarves on Steven Tyler’s mic stand.
TELL US SOMETHING PEOPLE WOULDN'T KNOW? I’ve saved four lives, two canine and two human. I know almost every lyric to every song from the 50’s/60’s and I’m a complete Beatles fanatic. I spent 3 months designing a clients' home and it sold in 48 hours, for double the price. My mom used to tell my teachers that I had a dr. appt., when really she would take me shopping. I totally blame her for my shopaholic behavior.
WHAT ARE 10 THINGS YOU CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT? My dog, the internet, my passport, peppermint mochas, a swimming pool, the color pink, glitter, love, comedy and a structured handbag.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF? Strategic, witty, ambitious, multi-tasker with an eye for innovation and creative perfection. I’m a self-proclaimed comedian, with an unhealthy handbag obsession. A happy, dog mom with an addiction to romantic comedies. I’ve gone through more hardships in the past 10 years, than most people do in a lifetime, but the key is to keep moving forward and come out on shining on the other side.
WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME? I don’t usually have much spare time, but when I do you I usually like to catch a movie, go shopping, bake, DIY project, go for a swim, binge-watch netflix shows, take a road trip and search for the perfect mojito or stay at home with Lucy.
WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST FEAR? Snakes, the dentist and not making an big enough impact on the planet, before my time is up.
IF YOU COULD MEET ONE PERSON, WHO WOULD IT BE? If I could go back in time, it would be Audrey Hepburn. She was the epitome of beauty and grace.
